Angelina Jolie Takes Action for World Refugee Day

Posted Friday June 21, 2013 8:38 AM GMT
Taking her duties as a special envoy for the UNHCR very seriously, Angelina Jolie traveled to Jordan for World Refugee Day on Thursday (June 20).
Given the ongoing crisis in Syria, the “Changeling” actress made sure to accompany UN High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres as he visited the Za’atri camp just across the Syrian border.
While on site, Angelina met with many refugees to give them hope of a brighter future, and spoke out against the conditions she observed.
Jolie told press, “The Syrian crisis here in Jordan and across the region is the most acute humanitarian crisis anywhere in the world today. The refugees have left behind a country in which millions of people are displaced…and where at least 93,000 have been killed: the friends, neighbors, fathers, mothers and children of people in this camp today."
"I pray that all parties in the Syrian conflict will stop targeting civilians and allow access to humanitarian aid."
