After surprising fans with her performance in "Precious," Mariah Carey is ready to prove her acting has come a long way from "Glitter" in the upcoming film "The Butler."
Portraying the character of Hattie Pearl, a photo taken on set shows the glamorous diva dressed in raggedy clothing with her hair up in a scarf while she picks cotton in the fields.
The movie tells the story of Cecil Gaines, who served eight presidents as the White House's head butler from 1952 to 1986, and had a unique front-row seat as political and racial history was made.
Directed by Lee Daniels, the biopic stars Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, Alex Pettyfer, John Cusack, Robin Williams, James Marsden, Cuba Gooding Jr., Liev Schreiber, Terrence Howard, and more. "The Butler" comes to theaters on August 16th.
