Michael Douglas Steps out for One Centennial Sensation

Posted Tuesday June 4, 2013 12:30 AM GMT
Lending his name to a cause close to his heart, Michael Douglas was on hand for the One Centennial Sensation event for the American Cancer Society on Monday (June 3) in New York City.
Dashing in a crisp suit and tie, the “Wall Street” star, himself a cancer survivor, posed for the cameras in front of the Hudson Theater at the Millennium Broadway Hotel before heading inside for the evening.
Over the weekend, the 68-year-old Academy Award winner spoke candidly about his battle with throat cancer in an interview with a UK newspaper.
Though his original statements led many to believe Douglas was saying his illness was caused by the HPV virus, a spokesman released a statement earlier on Monday explaining the confusion.
In part, it said that the acting legend was just pointing out that HPV is one of many ways one can get throat cancer, and that it was not what caused his specific illness.
