Paula Deen Skips “Today” Show Interview
She was scheduled to appear on the “Today” show this morning (June 21) but Paula Deen elected to bow out of the gig without telling anyone.
According to host Matt Lauer, the celebrity chef never gave any notice that she wouldn’t show up, she just simply skipped the appearance.
Lauer told the audience, “Paula Deen was scheduled to do an
interview with us this morning, live in our studio, but we just found
out, she’s a no-show. She has not called us at all this morning.”
Deen has been embroiled in controversy over the past week after she gave deposition that she’s used the “n-word” in the past.
When asked about her attitude towards a former restaurant manager, Paula was questioned as to whether she’d ever spoken the derogatory term.
Deen said very matter-of-factly, “Yes, of course. It’s been a very long time,” before recounting a story from the 1980s in which she was held up at gunpoint by an African American man.
