"This Is The End" Tops Midweek Box Office Charts

Giving audiences a good laugh before a superhero blockbuster swoops in, "This is the End" topped the Wednesday box office (June 12).

Opening to a gross of $7.8 million, the apocalyptic comedy stars Seth Rogen,Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, and Emma Watson.Hitting theaters on Thursday night in the U.S. and in other countries on Friday, "Man of Steel" already broke records in the Phillipines on Wednesday. Falling on the country's Independence Day, the action-adventure flick scored $1.7 million.

Gearing up for a true summer blockbuster, observers are predicting a North American debut of the Zack Snyder-directed film to gross $85-$100 million.
